John W. (Jay) Dunbar is a certified public accountant and certified valuation analyst. I have been in the practice of public accounting since 1976. After nearly two years with a national accounting firm, I left to join a local accounting firm, becoming a partner in the firm in 1982. That firm, Dunbar, Broaddus, Gibson LLP operated until its dissolution in December 2007. Effective December 1, 2007, I opened my current practice as a sole proprietorship.
My practice includes the traditional income tax for individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts and estates. Additionally, I prepare compiled and reviewed financial statements.
The focus of my practice will be business valuations and litigation support.
I have prepared in excess of 200 business valuations in the past ten years. Valuations have been prepared for estate and gift purposes, divorces, buy-sell agreements, dissenting shareholders, purchase price allocation and issuing new shares of stock. As part of the valuation process, I have assisted in drafting terms of buy-sell agreements.
Litigation support encompasses a range of services. I have served as a consultant in litigation settings and served as an expert witness in both state and federal courts. In those roles, I have calculated and prepared reports for lost profits (both defense and plaintiff), prepared valuations for divorces and other litigated matters.
In the future I will be adding articles I will have written, interesting links and items of local interest, some serious, some frivolous. Please come back again. |
